Registration of trade-mark for "Dr. Ricord's essence of life", dated 11 February, 1885. The name "Dr. Ricord's essence of life" was to be applied to a medicinal preparation marketed by Edward Davis trading uder the name of "Messrs. W. Barclay and Company", 43 Goulbourn Street, Sydney.

Ed Davis was born in Philadelphia in 1920. After, serving in World War II, he enrolled in broadcast journalism courses, and began announcing big-band shows on WFPG radio. During his career in radio, Davis also worked for WIIN, WMID, and WOND-AM. Davis was a historian of Atlantic City history and is well known for his book, Atlantic City Diary, originally published in 1980 and reprinted in 1985. Ed Davis died in 2007.
